INTRODUCTION ABOUT SHELCAL 500MG TABLET

SHELCAL 500MG TABLET is a bone health supplement comprising Calcium carbonate and Vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) as active ingredients. It corrects calcium and Vitamin D3 deficiency and its associated health conditions like osteoporosis (bones become brittle and fragile), osteomalacia (softening of bones), and rickets (abnormal calcification, softening, and distortion of the bones typically resulting in bowlegs).

SHELCAL 500MG TABLET is also considered a source of calcium supplement for women, especially during the stages of menopause, to manage their nutritional needs.

It is highly suggestive as part of osteoporosis management and during pregnancy, where it helps to maintain proper bone growth in the growing foetus and satisfies the extra nutritional needs during pregnancy.

Patients undergoing management with SHELCAL 500MG TABLET will be asked to monitor their plasma levels of calcium frequently to avoid hypercalcemia (increased calcium levels).

SHELCAL 500MG TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with hypervitaminosis D (increased levels of vitamin D in the blood), kidney stones, or diseases that increase calcium levels in the blood and urine (Ex. hyperparathyroidism). It can be used during pregnancy and breast-feeding when instructed by your physician.

SHELCAL 500MG TABLET should be taken with caution in patients with sarcoidosis (growth of a tiny collection of inflammatory cells or granulomas in any part of the body), immobilized patients with osteoporosis (brittle bones), malignancies (abnormal growth of cells), and impaired renal function. 

The most common side effects of taking SHELCAL 500MG TABLET include nausea, vomiting, constipation, excess gas, dry mouth, loss of appetite, and acid reflux. Consult your doctor if any of the side effects worsen.
