Shirodhara

• INTRODUCTION

Shirodhara is a specialised upkarma of panchakarma treatment & is one of the 4 murdhni taila treatments used for nourishment of the brain & then to improve the functioning of the brain by reducing stress, improving sleep & memory. One of the preferred treatments in psychological diseases.

• PROCEDURE

Shirodhara is done with the help of a special vessel which can help in pouring drop by drop of the medicine almost 4-5 inches above the forehead. A band is tied at eyebrows to restrict the medicine to go into eyes. Eyes are covered with rose water soaked cotton . Then the medicine is dropped on the fore head drop by drop & at the same time the oil is slowly massaged into the scalp.

• DIET

Before No specific extra precautions are required other than the instructions for the underlying disease

After There are no specific dietary restrictions after shirodhara expect one should not bathe after the treatment.

• CAUTION
